Home Child-Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot( Caregivers Program)

This is a program launched by Government of Canada in June 2019. Caregivers who meet the eligibility requirements can Apply for Permanent Residence.

There are three unique features of this program:-

  1. NoLabour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is required
  2. Occupation-restricted work permit is issued ( you can work as a caregiver for any employer)
  3. Your family members are also eligible to come with you to Canada. So you can include their Work or Study permit applications along with your application

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Education

The applicant must provide evidence that they have completed Canadian one-year post-secondary (or higher) educational credential and an Educational Credential Assessmentfor Foreign Credentials.

  1. Qualifying Canadian work experience

To qualify for permanent residence applicant must have at least 24 months of Full time Canadian work experience within 36 monthsin the either of the following.

  • Home Child-Care Provider Pilot applicants must have qualifying work experience as Home Child-Care Providers (NOC 4411). Applicants must have provided in-home care to children under the age of 18, whether in their own home or in the employer’s or child’s home.
  • Home Support Worker Pilot applicants must have qualifying work experience as Home Support Workers and related occupations (NOC 4412).

Applicants without 24 months of experience

Applicants who are otherwise eligible but who lack the 24 months of qualifying Canadian work experience at the time of their application for permanent residence will receive an occupation-specific open work permit(if they have genuine Job offer) to complete the program requirement of 24 months of authorized full-time work experiencewithin 36 months of the issuing of the occupation-specific open work permit.

  1. Job offer

Attention : If the applicant has provided proof of at least 24 months of Canadian Experience a job offer is not required.

  • Full time, a genuine need for a caregiver and the wage according to the prevailing wage in the province and financial ability of the employer to pay the wages specified in the job offer
  1. Ability to perform the work

To prove that applicant has the ability to perform the work in their occupation, the applicant must submiteither :

  • proof of relevant previous work experience (either paid or unpaid) or
  • relevant education credentials or training

Examples of eligible occupations:

  • Registered Nurses
  • Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Personal Support Workers- home care
  • Nanny
  • Early Childhood Educators
  • babysitter
  • personal care attendant – home care
  • Child Care Provider
  1. Language:

 

Minimum language level required is CLB level – 5 in English or French.

Application Process

  • Submit the application either the Home Child Care Provider Pilot or the Home Support Worker Pilot
  • Work permit application is submitted togetherwith your permanent residence application.
  • Once all the requirements (Education, Job offer, Language and Ability) are met, Occupation restricted work permit is issued to work in Canada, to complete the requirement of 24 months Canadian work experience.(occupation-restricted open work permit means that  you can work as a caregiver for any employer)
  • Get at least 24 months of work experience on this work permit to qualify for permanent residence.
  • Send the proof of your completed work experience to IRCC.
  • Final decision on your application for permanent residence is made.
